Using a fountain pen v ball point is the equivalent of reading a real book v digital. Sometimes you want the experience. I used to have a very nice fountain pen, a gift. When I heard about these inexpensive disposables, I didn't expect much but I wanted that experience again. I thought it would be a way of getting into the mood again before splurging on a "real" pen, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how nicely these write, and I don't have the worry about losing an expensive instrument. The nib feels and writes like a more substantial pen. I'm enjoying using one. But if you've never used one before just be aware that you really must keep the cap on when you aren't writing. if the ink dries in the nib, it takes a bit of scratching to get it going again. Don't put pressure on the nib - that can cause the groove where the ink flows to gape wider and make the ink flow unpredictable. That said, at this price you can afford to damage one or two getting used to it.
