WARNING - You Will Be THE Neighborhood Pool House With This! - Update One Year Later
We have a two and four year old and were ready to upgrade from the round plastic kiddie pool to something more advanced. Given the price and ratings we settled on this slide/pool combo. Let's start with what you are probably asking first and foremost... is the quality there? It absolutely is. We had our concerns as well, but this is thick and (so far) durable fabric, very heavy stitching, and enough excess material at the seams that it can 'give' as kids bounce on it. Again, this is FABRIC, NOT plastic, that is a key distinction from the more typical slides you would get kids in this age range. It inflates in about 60 seconds, and since we have only a slight slope and are putting water in the pool we have not even staked it (there's no real chance it will flip over if there is enough water on it and the ground is flat). In the past several weeks we have had over 10 kids ages 2 to 11 playing on it at once, as well as some lighter-weight moms. It has taken a beating without a tear or issue. We are using a tarp under it to be extra safe, and no shoes or other objects in the pool. but otherwise kids bounce, jump, speed-slide, etc. and it has held up great. I had some concerns that the water slide would over-fill the pool, and I suppose if you put it on full-blast you could, but we have it running enough water to wet the slide but not spray past the slide. At this setting, the kids splash out about as much water as it adds, and we have yet to overfill the pool after almost 8hrs of continuous use. I would also note that this works JUST FINE without water. It would likely only appeal to kids less than 6 or so, but we actually set this up inside on a rainy day and the kids had a blast. If I had a lot more room I'd keep a few large bags of balls and make a ball pit out of the pool! As for customer support, we had a small issue when we got the pool and sent Costzon a note, and with 12hrs we had a response, a path for resolution, and they followed up repeatedly (and politely) until we were satisfied. Add their 6 month warranty to that and you will likely be just as satisfied as us. Two items to note that are more of an FYI if you are considering getting this. First, it is designed to leak air at seams to keep the water out. That is normal, and it can hold over 100lb moms fine, so don't fret. But that DOES mean that about 30 seconds after you kill the power, all the water runs out. Just keep that in mind if you plan to run out/away for a while, you either keep it on or lose the pool water. The second item is this dries MUCH faster when inflated. We power it down, drain the pool, then power it back on to dry and it comes out much drier much faster. So short and sweet, if you can afford it and are reading this, buy it... you won't be sorry! ======================== Update - One Month Later - Still Going Strong! We just had our biggest block party to date, 21 kids climbing, jumping, sliding, rough-housing, all ages from 2 to 12, and this was a huge hit. We have yet to have a single tear or issue with it and I cannot imagine more of a beating than the three ~12 year old boys just gave it. I do not normally update reviews, but as a number of comments question the age range for this I can assure you that 12 year old boys LOVE this, especially on a hot day. I'll update again if anything goes wrong, but until then we are still incredibly satisfied with this and cannot recommend it enough. =================================== Update 1 year later... still impressed! Kids are 1 year older, and after what must be 50 or more sessions with the entire neighborhood of ~14 kids playing with it, it is holding strong. No tears, no problems at all. It is rather remarkable because now there are teenagers using it and it holds. Price has doubled due to Covid, but if you can get it when the price goes back down I suggest it. Three things we have learned with this update. 1. We now have more than one teenager in the neighborhood. This slide CANNOT hold two teenagers on the top at the same time, the fan cannot keep up and it starts to lean toward where the weight is. Since controlling them is non-trivial I decided to use the stakes, and now say I STRONGLY recommend staking it if you have multiple big kids as they could tip it over if they were really crazy. 2. We have gone to a two-hose setup, we split the main line right at the slide spray head. That lets us throttle the sprayer (so it just wets the slide) AND fill/top-off the pool as needed. We're averaging about 120 gallons per session, which is not bad for ~8hrs of use. 3. Due to Covid we're spraying with a dilute bleach solution and rinsing prior to drying it out. This is REALLY paying off, if you didn't perfectly dry it in the past and stored damp you could get a slight odor/funk when you rolled it out, but this dilute bleach (about 1L of dilute solution sprayed directly on the topside) really helps it smell fresh when it comes out. Still cannot recommend this enough!
