The monitor is a steal for the price and has a clear picture for use as a backup camera monitor :-) My gripe....the instructions :-( Even after everyone else's warnings about the inadequate instructions I wasn't too concerned because it only has three wires to hook up (red, black and blue) besides plugging in your video source(s). What the included instructions do not tell you is that if you are connecting a backup camera it MUST be connected to the Video 2 plug in order to work with the blue wire to sense when you've shifted into reverse. It would have been so much easier if in the included instructions in the box they would have noted that "Video 2 input is for connecting a backup camera." My backup camera had a female end so I could only plug it into Video 1 of the monitor and it would not work that way with the blue reverse trigger wire. After searching around I found the needed info back in the product's description on Amazon. Why didn't they include that info in the wiring instructions? So, in short, to take advantage of the blue reverse sensing wiring the backup camera must be plugged into the monitor's Video 2 input (the yellow female RCA plug). Red = Positive, Black = ground, Blue = Reverse trigger wire, Video 2 input = Camera...Wired like this it will turn on the monitor when you shift into reverse and off when you take it out of reverse.
