The negative reviews here are very deceiving and all due to people not reading and understanding what this product is. It is very simple. If you purchase an unlocked phone, which is a phone with no carrier attached to it, you then purchase a sim card such as this to insert and sign up for this carriers service. This specifically says it is for the GoPhone service, which is AT&T's plan for unlocked phones. The GoPhone plans have nothing to do with other AT&T's other plans or services. It is only for unlocked phones. I purchased this to go with the new Amazon BLU R1 HD. You can set everything up before putting it in the phone but you do need to physically have the phone for you will need some numbers from it. When you set up the phone you can insert the SIM card before turning it on or after you have set up other phone only features. The GoPhone sim card is simple. You can register it very easily on line. You link it to the phone you are using and you have to choose a plan. There are many options and there is no contractual obligation. You only pay per month unless you want autopay where you will save $5 per month. Once you pick your plan and make the payment for the month your card is set to go and you will receive a telephone #. I got the unlimited talk and text with 3gb of data for $45. great deal. Everything about this sim card and its purpose is simple. It only provides you with the service linked to this sim card. If I changed to another phone as long as it was an unlocked phone and accepts AT&T as a carrier I would simply insert the sim card into that new phone and the service would transfer over. I think people are confused thinking if they have AT&T as their cell phone carrier and buy an unlocked phone they should be able to transfer their # over to the sim card for the unlocked phone as well. Not the way it works. The phone # you received with the GoPhone sim card only applies to unlocked phones. It in no way links to a preexisting REGULAR AT&T account. Sorry for the length and if confusing but I hope I could shed some light. I needed a cell phone, bought an unlocked phone, got the GoPhone sim card and set up up within 3 minutes online and the service on my phone is great. The card was very easy to insert into the phone and activate. Honestly made everything so easy.
