The best heater I've used, nearly perfect. Technical review.
This heater is the best one I've found, and I've tried *many* types of heaters. It puts out a warm to hot stream of soft air that works great for heating a room. It has a power switch, wattage switch for different output levels, and a thermostat to set the point at which it turns on and off. It also has a safety tip-over switch as heaters are required to have nowadays. The heater works very well, and is the quietest forced-air heater I've come across. Even the thermostat is quiet as it clicks on and off, can barely hear it as opposed to the loud click of most heaters.
For forced air heaters you generally have two types, wire element and ceramic element (There is also infrared with fan but I'm not considering that here). They are both electric, but have different element watt-area densities. You can concentrate 1500w in a very small space with a small element producing a hot puff of air, or you can spread the 1500w over a larger surface and get more voluminous comfortable air. A ceramic element is small, concentrating 1500w in a very small area, producing a small poof of extremely hot air, which I don't like because the air doesn't get far. In contrast this is the wire-element style which heats a larger volume of air not as hot, but still plenty hot. I prefer the wire-element kind as this one is, because you can warm yourself up in front of it. It also heats a room more evenly as air is more distributed.
Some things you should be aware of. Firstly when you turn on the heater for the first time there will be some motor bearing noise as the bearings are worked in for the first time. I've used 3 of these and it will go away in a few minutes during the first run and doesn't come back. Second my unit has some thermostat bounce, in that it clicks on and then off, then a few seconds later clicks on until the set point is reached. Many heaters I've used do this, which is a property of the bimetallic strip thermostats manufacturers use. This could be alleviated with a different model thermostat, but the ones that don't bounce have loud clicks.
Have an electrician make sure your electrical situation is safe. They can make sure outlets and wire connections to them are in good shape, as a bad outlet and/or connection to it can create a hazardous situation. In many cases this is not noticed until a high amp draw appliance like a heater is plugged in and used, which stresses weak electrical connections. Should you feel your outlet, plug, or cover plate getting hot call an electrician and have them take a look at the outlet, and the other ones in the circuit. Since outlets are daisy-chained, a bad connection could exist in an outlet upstream as well. I caught several of these in my house, where the neutral line had gotten so hot it blackened, due to a "backstab" connection to the outlet. "Backstab" and "Backwire" connections are different and your electrician will know the difference.
