I have an extremely difficult to fit foot with a high instep (I have relatively high arch as well but the instep is what makes footwear hard to fit.) The instep is the slant of the top of your foot. Mine is steep and therefore it is difficult to get foot into many shoes. I have a regular width foot but with a narrower heel as compared to ball of foot. These boots required only a bit of tug to get them on, after which they were roomy in the toe but stay on wonderfully. No pinches anywhere, nothing rubbing. I bought size 7, what I always buy, though my foot length is closest to 6-1/2. Since the sole is flat I bought a full length insole and wear with regular socks, though a slightly heavier one fit as well. If you have trouble with shoes due to the instep, give these a try. I wore them constantly for 8 days indoor and out while on a winter trip to Boston. It was single digit temps and my feet were very warm!
