We bought two of these to control mosquitoes in our home. I placed one in the garage, which gets opened a few times a day, allowing the bugs to get in there, and another one in the family room. They have eliminated a problem we've had for years with mosquitoes entering our Florida home. The garage unit takes care of the ones that sneak in there during the day, and the one in the family room gets any that get by that first line of defense. The bulbs seem to have about a 6 month life - these units are on continuously for us, as insect season is all year. A word of warning about changing the bulbs...the grid will remain "hot" even after unplugging and turning off the the unit. The capacitors that power the grid do not discharge quickly, and it is very easy when changing the bulb or even cleaning the grid to get a rather nasty jolt - you will feel it all the way up your arm! I haven't experimented with the units to determine how long the capacitors remain charged. Just be careful if you're monkeying around inside. If anyone has a good way to discharge these quickly, let me know. Other than that, they work great...Just know you'll go through that first pack of bulbs in about 6 months of steady use.
