Wow, what an awesome book this is! And what an awesome writer and thinker is Murray! I bought the Kindle version of “The Madness of Crowds” after Andrew Sullivan called it “superb” in his NY Magazine column of September 21, 2019. And, lordy, I am so pleased, and feel so lucky! I’m only about one-third of the way through the book (I’m savoring it), but already in my mind I’m grouping Murray with my other favorite authors of recent decades: Richard Dawkins, Steven Pinker, Robert Wright, Andrew Sullivan, and Yuval Noah Harari, for example. Wow--I’m having one of those moments when one simply feels so, so lucky to be alive, to be able to read really, really, really good and insightful books, you know? And this is the first Amazon review I have ever written...which says something about how charged up I am about this book, and about how important and significant I feel it is in terms of “understanding the big picture,” which is my favorite pursuit. Highly, highly, highly recommended!!
