And that is exactly what this outdoor power control unit provides. We bought it specifically to mount in the center of our patio table. We often sit outside and work so we needed outlets for two laptop computers, a buglight and a string of rope lights. This unit provides that and so far has been impervious to the weather. This unit has six power outlets, three per side, plus a mounting spike (detachable)so that it can be on a lawn and then be an automated control center for outdoor lighting, Christmas lights or what ever. It has a master ON/OFF circuit breaker in addition to timer under a plastic cover on top of the unit. The timer is really quite versatile. It can be set to turn the outlets on at dusk and then turn them off again at dawn or at any one of four preset intervals (2,4,6 & 8 hours). There really isn't a whole lot more to say about this unit. It has performed reliably even both good and bad weather. If I needed another outdoor power unit I would buy another one of these. FOUR YEAR UPDATE We have now been using this unit for four years. Throughout all of this time the unit has sat unprotected outside in the center hole of our glass patio table on the back deck. After all this time the unit still works great. The top plastic cover has yellowed with age and the UV to which it has been exposed. Still, all outlets still work just fine. The hinged protective covers for each outlet are all there and they all still work freely. The timer works perfectly as well. I am impressed. This unit has withstood the ravages of time and weather and is still working perfectly. Amazing. FIVE YEAR UPDATE Same as the four year update. This unit is still going strong. Kind of like the Ever Ready Bunny - it just keeps on going and going and going...... This silly thing may just outlive me!!!!!!! TEN YEAR UPDATE Well, this unit is still in place and is still working perfectly. We still use it almost daily with one or more laptops plugged in as we sit out on the deck. Its longevity is truly amazing. This item has now been outdoors every day fo over ten years. UV radiation has completely clouded the plastic top but the on/off automated timer still works perfectly. I wonder if its warranty period has expired. Maybe I could get a replacement top. 😎
