I followed the recommendation to order a 20 x 20 insert for an 18 x 18 cover. The result had the look and feel of a basket ball with points. It was ridiculously overstuffed. It also tore the seam a bit near the zipper in the struggle to get it into the cover. I reordered an 18 x 18 insert and now it's just right. It looks and feels like a pillow should. I would suggest ignoring the recommendations and ordering an insert the same size as the cover. Other than that, the insert seems perfectly fine. Be sure to push some stuffing into the corners if they're not completely filled.
