I bought this pad for backpacking. I have not gone backpacking yet, but I did give it a trial run when sleeping over at my daughter’s house. It is not self inflating, but I gave it about 8-10 breaths and it filled nicely. I usually sleep on an air mattress and am cold all night. With this particular sleep pad, not only was I warm all night, but it was also quite comfortable. I was concerned that it wouldn’t fit back into the case it came in. But, it fit perfectly once deflated and rolled back up. I cynched it to the outside of my backpack, because it’s too big to fit inside my 36 liter osprey pack. It is quite bulky, but for the price, comfort and warmth, I think the size will be ok. I’ll edit my review once I’ve gone on my next backpacking trip.
