(Update!) Automatic Volume Normalization Issue Resolved!
**UPDATE** Since the writing of my original review, Anker has updated this speaker to no longer have the volume leveling/normalization issues I originally experienced. Anker was kind enough to send out the updated model for me to try, and I’m happy to say music sounds more dynamic and closer to what I expect to hear. Many thanks to Anker for supporting their customers and products, even years after release. **Original Review** This Anker speaker has a nice build quality and excellent battery life, but that's where the positives end for me. My copy of the speaker had extremely aggressive auto volume leveling that would boost quiet parts of songs and soften loud parts, completely removing any dynamic range and making it essentially useless for music. At first I thought it might be a defect because I've never heard volume compression this aggressive. Looking through the manual and online I found no way to disable it. I've now heard other users report the same thing, so either there are bad units circulating, or the volume leveling is some sort of battery saving feature. For reference, I own an Anker Soundcore Mini and it does not exhibit any form of auto volume leveling. I quite enjoy that speaker and hoped to like this one too.
