My wife is 24 weeks pregnant and we are absolutely overjoyed, to say the least. This is our first child and we are enjoying the process as much as we can, all the while trying to prepare for the stork to fly overhead in late October. My wife has been struggling to get a good nights' sleep for a while now and I would often times wake up in the middle of the night without her next to me. Since the bed was uncomfortable for her to sleep on, she would go to the couch in the front room, where I think the backing of the couch may have provided her with somewhat of a sense of security, as this pillow does for her now. As a couple, naturally, we don't want to sleep separately. We aren't The Cleavers, right?! :) But it's no longer about us, it's us and the baby! The most important thing is that she needs to be comfortable and get a good nights' sleep! It's hard to explain but I've observed her motherly instincts kicking in, in particular, while she walks with an almost protective posture to keep the baby safe, and I imagine that the same protective nature also guides her in her sleep, which is all the more reason to have this pillow--for the safety and security of the protective mother. Does that make sense? As her tummy grows, her back pain and general discomfort has also steadily increased. It sure has been a process and I guess we are almost 2/3 of the way there! This pillow has made all the difference for us these past two weeks. We purchased the pillow six weeks ago but it was honestly not useful for us until just recently. Perhaps size plays an important role as far as when the pillow is most useful to the mother-to-be, but I'm sure that each mother is different. While I miss seeing my wife now that we have this gigantic pillow between us, knowing that she is comfortable in her sleep is the best feeling of all. I am now getting better sleep myself and this pillow is a godsend for us--it really helps her to sleep well. So if your wife is tossing and turning and well, if that's the case, I'm sure that this may also mean that she spends part of the day being grumpy (we are all this way when we don't get our sleep, right!! Us guys, too!), please buy her this pillow. As husbands and fathers-to-be, it's our job to take care of our wives during this special time and since there is not much we can do while we are asleep, let this pillow take on the night shift!!
