Great pump--tricky setup for 15' Intex
I got this pump as an upgrade from the 1000 gph cartridge pump that came with my 15' x 48" Intex pool. The cartridge pump sucked. This new sand filter rocks. It cleans much better and turns the water over much faster. My only issues were making sure I had the correct adapters for my 15' pool. Everything (hose size wise) on this filter/pump is for an 18' and up I believe. Get this pump here on Amazon, but get any and all adapters, hoses, plunger valves, etc, directly from intex.com. The accessories are usually much cheaper on the Intex website than can be found on Amazon, and Intex also has accessories that you cannot find on Amazon. I also purchased the skimmer and the water sprayer and this pump handles everything beautifully. Purchase plunger valves to adapt the filter 1 1/2" ID hoses to the 1 1/4" hook ups of the 15' pool. You'll also need the Type 'B' adapter for the outlet side. Get the 'T' plunger valve for the dual intake to the pump. I like the plunger valves because you can isolate the pump without wasting pool water, but you do not have to have them to set up this pump. You will need to keep the outlet hoses from the original cartridge filter to run to the 'T' plunger valve. I also used the original 1 1/4" 'T' adapter and purchased two extra 1 /1/4 hoses (from intex) to split the outlet on the filter....one side going to the the pool for the recirculation and one going to the water feature/sprayer that I put up. This also had the added benefit of reducing the pressure to the water feature so that it doesn't spray to the other side of the pool. And having the plunger valve on the outlet side also allows you to control the flow going to the sprayer. Here's pics of set up but I hadn't added the water feature yet. If anyone wants pics of how I set that up...respond to this review and I will post additional pics. Keep in mind that this set up is for a 15 ft and under Intex pool. 18 ft and larger, I believe, have the right size hoses.
