This garlic press is simple and sturdy. It gets the job done and doesn't have too many moving parts making it durable and easy to clean. It's worth the buy for the price. I saw a previous review with some complaints that I would like to give my personal take on. The garlic oozes up on top - this is pretty standard for garlic presses, that a little will not be pressed down and will ooze up around the sides of the presser. It is a simple fix, you open the presser and push the oozed bits back into the middle. And actually, I found that this press did a great job of getting most the garlic through the holes compared to other models I've used before. Another complaint - you have to scrape the garlic off the holes after it's squished through; it doesn't just fall off. Again, this is pretty standard for a garlic press. And using one simple knife sweep on the end versus a bunch of tiny chops is far faster and more efficient. It is true that there is no cleaning device, but this is why stores sell dish brushes. If you rinse it off quickly and don't let the garlic harden, it will also be easier to clean. The company says it's dishwasher safe, though I have not tried this. The customer also complains that it is not good for ginger. If you think about it, though, ginger is much courser and stringier than garlic and it makes sense that it cannot crush as easily through tiny holes. Ultimately, it sounds like this person has never used a garlic press in their life or at least not one at a reasonable price point and should just stick to using a knife in the old-fashioned way or buy minced garlic. If you are like me and are looking for a simple garlic press that presses garlic as advertised and is affordable, I have this product recommendation for you. The only thing that I would note is that it was a little heavier than I expected but this doesn't affect its functionality.
