The game is free, unless you're REALLY impatient. Sims can get jobs, you can collect from houses, and you can plant gardens. Even the "lifestyle points," which are a different type of money, are super easy to earn by completing the goals. Most of which are simple things such as "have a snack" or "buy new carpet". The party boat allows you to connect to facebook, and if you have certain amounts of friends that also play, you can collect lifestyle points and simoleans daily. I'm not sure what the cap is on how many Sims you can have, but I have 11 so far. If two Sims move in and get married (which changes the Sim who said "yes"'s last name) you can have a baby. Children have three stages of ageing, baby, toddler, and pre-teen. All have different actions and their own set of items. I love the game, and play it way too much. The Halloween update was great. Only complaint is the game gets pretty laggy if more then 6 or 7 Sims are at the same house, but that's completely acceptable. I say get the game! :)
