This particular bundle is perfect for someone like me who has been hesitant to dip into the paperless book pool. I have Prime, and added a few books to my smartphone to see if I could read without an actual book in hand. Since I've embraced paperless, and checked out the Paperwhite locally, this package is a no brainer. I agree with the overpriced charger, it should be included in the box, and this deal takes care of that. I find those leaving less than stellar reviews amongst all the Kindle products are simply rich, or have plenty of disposable income to purchase a new Kindle fire, paperwhite, etc. every time a new version comes out and then complain that it's not 100% improved. Of course it's not. It's simply tweaked enough to convince someone like me to make a first purchase. Just like an upgraded coffee maker or blender. I don't buy a new one every time they add a feature. Of course Amazon won't say no to those who want every version ever made. I'm old school, save my money and wait until the price and product's capabilities meet my needs with a goal of keeping it for approx. 5 years. I'm not going to be replacing mine anytime soon just because they add something next year. I have terrible eyes, and 300 ppi with the ability to read in the dark are important features. Not having to worry about wearing out my phone battery reading, and the long lasting charge of the Paperwhite is the other reason I'm ready to take the plunge, and finally the holidays are coming so hubby's work is done for him! Update: I did get the Paperwhite for Xmas and love it. It’s plug and play and the clarity is amazing. I can now read without eye strain. When my smartphone was my only eReader, I kept finding myself stopping to clear my cache, check email or update my calendar and before I knew it, my free time for reading was wasted on phone 'housekeeping'. I love that Kindle is simply an eReader. I can immerse myself fully with no distractions, other than taking the time to add to my vocabulary or research historical details related to my novel du jour. The Special Features aren't intrusive while reading, and let me know about best sellers and new releases. Highly recommend.
