True to the original story
There are many reviewers who have probably only seen the modern versions of this story & therefore finding it lacking in "action & adventure". It was written by H.G. Wells between 1895 and 1897. It was his commentary " on evolutionary theory, British imperialism, and generally Victorian superstitions, fears, and prejudices." He compared the invasion of the Martians ,in his book, to the attacks, subjugation and eradication of the Tasmanian people during the Victorian era aggressiveness of establishing a British Empire across the world. It was also written as a commentary on arranged marriage and religious dominance. Wells was a Darwinist and a free thinker during his life. This series was quite true to the original book and did an excellent job portraying the settings, dress, and attitudes of his day. Though it was a depressing portrayal it stays true to the original story and is quite well done.
