It's the way to go!
First time I've actually tried to clean my K&N filter using this system, and the results are good!
It's basically a 4-step process, that uses both of these products:
1) Remove your filter and spray the Power Kleen solution "liberally" onto your filter
2) Rinse Power Kleen solution off with running water.
(The instructions say you may need to repeat these steps - which I did.)
3) Shake excess water & Let dry completely
4) Spray the filter oil onto your filter - let dry for 20 minutes - Reinstall
That's it.
Notes:
I decided to repeat steps 1 & 2 because I could still see some build-up when holding the filter up to light.
There was noticeable crud that came out the 2nd time so I'm glad I did.
After rinsing, the filter looked and felt quite dry after about 3 hours, but I let the filter completely dry overnight just to be sure.
I have not used the pump version of the filter oil, but I must say I don't think I will. I really prefer the ease and coverage that the aerosol gives you. The oil is colored red so you can easily gauge coverage - do NOT over oil.
Results:
In my opinion, this does exactly what it says it will do - cleans and recharges your used filter so it will continue to perform at a high level.
What it will not do is make your used filter look brand new. I know there is still a little bit of dirt trapped in that filter that these products don't let you get to, but I am confident it will continue to filter dirt and allow clear air flow.
If you want a bad analogy: I'd say it's like only using mouthwash to clean your teeth. Ya, you get that nice, clean minty-fresh feeling, but it won't be like you just left the dentist.
If you have a K&N filter, this is the only way to treat it. They do a good job of making it easy to use, and the results are positive. There seems to be plenty of solution left for future cleanings. How many would depend on if you feel the need to repeat steps 1 & 2 with the Power Kleen solution.
I posted my actual before & after pics to the customer images. See for yourself!
