I think it smells awful. I thought my dogs and cats would turn their noses up to it. But instead, they have no issues drinking their water with this additive. Within one week of my dogs using this product, that red line that spanned the gum line of their teeth disappeared. All early signs of periodontal disease GONE within ONE WEEK! But my results are based on that my dogs were getting their teeth brushed on occasion, sometimes once a week, or longer. I did not realize I should be brushing their teeth a few times a week, or daily! So the improvement with Dental Fresh has motivated me to keep up with brushing their teeth more. I don't brush the cats teeth, but both have shown major improvements from using this product. I am seeing more negative reviews for Dental Fresh, and don't get it. Are you reading the instructions properly? Competitors generally instruct a tablespoon per 8-16 oz of water for their products. So if you assume the instructions for this one are the same, your dog may get sick and vomit. This stuff is POWERFUL. ONLY 1 TEAspoon per 8 oz. And that's at full strength. Once your pets dental conditions improve, you can cut the amount by 1/4 or 1/2 for maintenance. This product is the best in cost effectiveness over their competitors, and still cheaper than most of them out there.
