A wonderful surprise--well-written and well-acted. With a sound balance of drama and humor, Good Girls Revolt tells the story (based on fact) of women trying to break through the glass ceiling of a male-dominated news magazine in the 1960s. In an era of tumultuous change--the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, the civil rights movement--the news magazines like Life, Look, Time and Newsweek were major reporters of the change going on in American society and the rest of the world. Through their reporting they had enormous influence on our culture. What few people knew was that female "researchers" at these magazines often did the shoe-leather work of fact gathering and the actual writing--only to have a male reporter slap his name their work. In the Good Girls Revolt we see these female researchers began to come together and realize that they will have to fight their way to recognition and equality. Amazon should push ahead with this program, It could be better then Mad Men at depicting a major period of cultural change in America.
