Patriot is one of the best shows I have seen in a long, long time. TV is flooded with predictable, safe shows. It is either doctors, cops, detectives, superheroes, dragons, or criminals. On a second level, we have deeper explorations of gender roles and ethnic struggles. Some shows are better than others, but none are truly satisfying. While they display high production values (lots of money spent on sets, costuming and effects), their inception relies on rehashing old formulas. Patriot takes chances. The writing frees the directors and actors from falling into the beats we are so used to seeing. It is so refreshing to find a satire that doesn't rely heavily on cruelty and exaggeration. This show, while hilarious is also compassionate towards its characters. If I am abstract and cryptic is because I do not want to ruin it for you. See for yourself. Patriot is a fantastic show.
