This candle was an extremely cool birthday surprise. You light the middle, it starts spewing music, then the petals with the individual candles come down and it starts spinning to the music. All-in-all an adorable birthday cake accoutrement. However - the flame that shot up when we first lit the candle was about 9-12 inches tall. And lasted for about a minute or a little under. Which is all well and good when this is for your 26th birthday, but may be not so great for a 3rd or 4th birthday. Parents - just use your discretion. If your kid enjoys flames and moving parts, but knows to stay well and good away from them until a parent says its safe to blow it out - then go for it. Again - FUN! But maybe wait until the birthday person is older!
