If you own an external battery pack and you’re look for an upgrade, you probably don’t need to read any further. 20100 mAh. 4.8A/5V. PowerIQ. VoltageBoost. What else needs to be said? Go buy it. It’s a BEAST. For those of you who don’t know which battery pack and need further guidance, keep reading. I’m a frequent road warrior traveler and I need an external battery pack for my smartphone. I previously own several New Trent external batteries (iTorch, iCarrier, Rugged Extreme Pro) and I stuck with them because they’ve been so good to me. And they’re great to have especially in your luggage or in your car, because you never know when you’ll run out of juice. But there are several reasons why the Anker 20100 stands above and beyond its competitions: 1. Simultaneously dual 2.4A/5V output through both USB port! This is extremely great to have around. No longer do you have pick and choose which device gets charge faster. The issue with New Trent is one of the USB is 2.1A/5V and the other is 1A/5V. Which meant one device would have taken a significant amount of time to charge. With a tablet and smartphone, it always meant one of them wouldn’t be charged in time. It’s a constant hassle to juggle the charging. 2. PowerIQ and VoltageBoost! Means whatever device or whatever USB cable you have, your device will charged at the most optimal rate. I thought this was just some marketing lingo to attract customers, but when you compare the charge time between the New Trent vs Anker, it’s nearly half the time. It’s not a scientific analysis, but Anker 20100 is significantly faster than any of my New Trent external battery packs from what I’ve observed. 3. Enormous 20100 mAh battery!! It’s probably one the largest battery out. If you look at the trend of batteries from 1400-1900 mAh just years ago to 3000-5000 mAh these days, certainly you’ll appreciate the larger capacity size. The larger the size, the less you’ll have to remember to charge the device, which will give you a peace of mind. 4. It charges the moment you plug it into your device!! This has been a pet peeve of mine with New Trent…pressing a little button to initiate the charge. It’s just common sense. Besides that, the device comes with a nylon pouch and a small USB cable. The pouch isn’t going to save you from accident drops of any kind. But it’s a nice to store your phone and battery while they charge peacefully. The CON.. (1) the device is the size and weight of the device. Obviously with all my other external battery pack, I don’t carry them with me religiously. They’re always in my car or in my luggage…always in arms reach. (2) the casing of the battery pack. It seems to made out of your standard plastic. Whether it'll stand a hard impact to the ground is quiet questionable when you compare it to New Trent Rugged Extreme . So if you’re a commuter, road warrior, or even a frequently traveler, I highly recommend taking a look at this little gem. I'm extremely happy with this external battery pack.
