Bought this for my elderly mother. She needs to sit in the shower. I wanted handles. Sturdy handles! I was cautioned at the retirement community she moved into that STURDY chairs that do NOT roll, with good back support and sturdy arm supports are extremely helpful. I hunted all over amazon and found this chair. It is superb. Not tippy. Not slide-y in the shower. Back support and armrest/handhold supports are very good. Excellent shower chair. Really a great one. My mother was NOT happy when I suggested it. I ‘forgot’ that she had said no. It arrived and we put it together for her and explained that if she liked it she could keep it. If not it would get dismantled and returned. This is a great way, by the way, to successfully encourage an elderly parent to accept help. ‘Well, you can just try it and see what you think and THEN say no. Why say no before you’ve even tried it? It doesn’t hurt to try, now does it?’ In the shower chair went into the shower. She has an assistant come in every am and help her. Well, the chair was an immediate hit. She has raved about it many times and has said she can’t imagine trying to bathe without it. I have used this ‘try it first and THEN decide’, many times. Helping an elderly parent is time consuming (but so very worth every moment!). I couldn’t see driving all around my small town looking for a shower chair that she would agree too. Especially since she has mobility issues. This one just looked so great. Sometimes it’s better to ask forgiveness than get permission! ;) As has happened a number of times now, requesting nicely that she just give it a go and then rate the assistance product afterwards has worked VERY well
