Wow! Reading some of these reviews and I thought I was buying some “Miracle Spring Water” or something. I thought to myself, “Just how good can this apparatus be?” but then I saw my tank, now I’m a believer. Long story short: my old fluorescent lights died in December after 6 years of production. Snagged an LED light on Amazon (at a great deal!)and was told profusely by every fish website out there that, “LEDs won’t lead to algae blooms.” These websites must be run by the “Committee to Protect Algae” or something because sure enough, my tank which is always immaculate started looking like a pond in the back of an English countryside estate. Complete wall of green. I could see fish knocking on the glass, begging me to either clean out the algae or send them off mercifully down the toilet. I did everything to combat it that I could. Water changes almost daily, scrubbing rocks, starving the fish almost to death, praying but sure enough, the water still looked cloudy (at best) and two days later it was a green morass again. I’ve had this tank for 8 years and I was down to a few options: dump 80 gallons of chemicals in it, get rid of the great looking LEDs and shell out a $100+ on another fluorescent, learn to love my green pond water, do water changes 85 times a week or take down the entire tank and cry myself to sleep. Instead I found this gadget but I was suspicious of the claims that it was the best thing since sliced bread. “Ultraviolet rays in my fish tank? Isn’t she a superhero or something?” I was at wit’s end. Installed it on a Thursday and by Monday, my water had moved up the scale from green paste to watery stew. People in the reviews said, “Give it time,” and so I waited and did another water change. The next day (Tuesday) my automatic lights clicked on and...I could see...I could see, yes, it’s a fish!! And there’s another! And another and there’s a decoration! I’m sold. I had to harness the power of the Sun and dunk it into my tank but it worked. The water is gorgeous. I made a highball last night with it. It tasted delicious and looked great in my glass. So now we all understand; this thing is legit. “Are we clear?!” “Crystal.”
