I recently transitioned my 2-year-old from her crib to a twin size floor bed. While the floor bed is only 5 inches off the ground, she's such a wild sleeper that I worried she'd frequently fall out of bed and wake herself up. I purchased the bumper for one side of her bed (the other is against a wall), and so far so good. I placed the bumper under the mattress protector and fitted sheet, and it barely moves. I was worried it would get pushed off the bed while she performs sleeping acrobatics, but it's stayed in place every night without fail. She's also pretty small for her age, and has no problem getting over the bumper to get into bed. I'm very pleased with the purchase, and glad I went with this over those ugly rail bumpers.
