Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

We bought this gate after bringing in a stray, abandoned cat. We slowing integrated the new cat in with our 16 year old cat and eventually used this gate as part of the introduction process. This is one of the few gates out there that is so tall. That was very helpful to us. Our 16 year old cat can no longer jump that high. The new cat never showed any signs of wanting to jump it so in our case this extra tall gate really worked. Our main issue with the gate was the space between each bar. There are different widths and there are a few columns were the space is quite large. The new cat was very small framed and weighed in at 7.7 pounds when we took him to the vet to check for any diseases. Unfortunately he was small enough to get through the largest space. So what we ended up doing was buying some cheap pipe insulation tubes both large and small sizes. These worked perfectly to keep him on his side of the gate. Not very fancy looking but it worked! I wish the gate had the same space in between bars straight across with gate using the smallest space on the gate. The walk through section was large enough to walk through but the top part of the gate on either side that you walk through is rough on the corners. I ended putting holes in some tops that I wore when I rubbed up against it. Space between wall and first rail with tension screw measured in at almost 4", the section where the gate opens is 3". The smallest space is 2.25 inches and would work perfect if each section was the same size. We also used this in our hallway on an angle not the flat part of the wall. We weren't sure it would work but it did. This allowed the cat upstairs to use 3 rooms. We also used two of these gates and one six inch extension for a length of 56" and it worked well. The gate never fell because it wasn't pressing against a flat wall. I hope that makes since. Overall a good gate with minor complaints.
