In some ways I am a sucker for anything that is rechargeable... I am a fan of the Greenworks product line (mowers, trimmers, clippers, and etc), I own a series of Makita lithium ion tools (including their handy little blower/sweeper), and I even drive a rechargeable car (a Chevy Volt... which I love) so I was excited to try the new Black & Decker 36V Lithium ion sweeper and Vac. I was a bit skeptical of the Black & Decker brand because I have seen spotty performance/quality in some of their other products, but that does not seem to be the case here! One thing to remember is to maintain your expectations. the Black & Decker Sweeper and Vac is not a full scale blower and vacuum and is not up to the tasks for blowing and vacuuming up wet leaves from your yard. That is not the intent of the Black & Decker Sweeper and vac... it is designed for smaller jobs primarily on hard surfaces. When you need to tackle large jobs in your yard you will likely need a gas powered blower/vac. Notes- - Feature a 36V - 1.3aH battery -Run time is roughly 15 minutes or so - Takes 75 minutes to charge the battery completely - the battery does feature a charge indicator. I also recommend that you not leave you battery on the charger for extended period (over a couple of hours). One more precaution... never run the battery dead place the battery back on the charger once you feel the battery power depleting. - Producing wind speeds up to 120 mph - 6 speed settings - Switches from sweeper to vacuum in less than 2 minutes - Lightweight - as a sweeper it weighs about 5lbs - In vacuum mode the unit will mulch the leaves - In vacuum mode wet leaves have a tendency to stick in the shoot which causes a pretty big drop in vacuuming power. - It would be nice if the vacuum bag was about 50% larger - I find myself emptying the bag every few minutes. - As a whole I think the sweeper mode is more functional than the vac. The sweeper has plenty of power for blowing off all hard surfaces where as the vacuum does ok, but it is best for smaller types of jobs. Final Verdict - As long as you manage your expectations the Black & Decker 36V lithium ion sweeper and vac is very handy for jobs on hard surfaces. If you are looking for something to vacuum up leaves on a 1 acre piece of property... you will be disappointed. 4 1/2 Stars
