I was looking for a jacket for my newborn to go on the grandparents' boat. She is 7 weeks old and not quite 8lbs. I tried this one and the Full Throttle safety vest in Orange. I reviewed that one separately, but ultimately picked this Stohlquist one because it was easier to hold my baby while she wore the jacket. The only con I have for this jacket--but enough that it loses a star--is that the zipper in the front chafes the baby's chin if we are not vigilant. We either have to make sure she is shifted just so in the jacket so she's not touching the zipper, or we have to hold our finger on the zipper to keep it from rubbing her chin. Otherwise it's been a good jacket. She initially squawked about wearing it, but has gotten used to it in justs a few days and now quite happily goes to sleep while wearing it (as long as the boat is moving!)
