I HATE THIS THING! (Review from the Dog's perspective)
I'm an 8 year old Siberian Husky who has always had the liberty of almost literally inhaling my food. I get fed in my kennel and roam the house when not eating out of my ProSelect 48oz Stainless hanging bowl. Earlier this week, the man who leaves toys and treats for my owner on our front door step left a Medium sized Gobble Stopper. My owner seemed excited because he kept saying "gobble stopper".. I had no idea what it meant. I do now.
He got home from wherever it is that he goes every day and smiled widely as he opened the tasteless brown boxy thing.. I know.. I've tried. I watched as he took my bowl out of my kennel, placed it on the floor, slightly lubricated the suction cup and pressed down (I think he may have washed the bowl, first, too). Now, I don't consider myself a malicious dog - I once chewed a pair of sandals and my owner got really upset with me, so I've been good ever since. And I always hear my owner call me a big baby... so when he put my bowl back in my kennel, with the Gobble Stopper thingy in, filled with food, I didn't really know what to do.
I tried diving in and 'going nuts' (as I hear him say from time to time) but I kept hitting this stupid stopper. Seriously, this dumb thing makes me chew my food and I overheard my owner saying it's gone from taking me 15 seconds to eat all the food in my bowl (and another 45 seconds of hacking it up) to two solid minutes of hunting, pecking and chewing all of my food.
In all honesty, it's been about a week since I've had the Gobble Stopper and I've come to terms with it. I haven't really tried to remove it, and it seems to stick to my bowl well - I have pulled my bowl out of its hanger a few times, but that was early on. I'm also noticing that other foods (like the ones my owner sneaks me from the table) taste better because I'm chewing them now.. not just swallowing them whole.
At first, I wasn't very happy, but I've come to terms with it as just a part of life. My owner says, "Thanks, Gobble Stopper!"
