I’d seen this type of book before- with multiple endings - but in books for older kids. This is exactly the right thing for 4-5 year olds... it shows a kid for whom the reader can make and change choices to change how his day goes. Life actually works exactly like that, whether you’re 5 or 50, but this is written in kid terms like this: What should Danny do: stomp really hard on Charlie’s foot, or tell Charlie that what he did wasn’t nice? And we turn to a different page and see what happens next based on which option the reader chooses. My 5 year olds were in a loud disagreement earlier tonight and I was able to suggest that they can choose what to do, giving them a couple of alternatives like the book does.. They were playing together again literally a minute after I said that. That book has paid for itself already! I highly recommend it.
