First impression
I’m an owner of many Levoit products and I find them to be super trustworthy and love their design and span of lifestyle and wellness products. I bought the Vista 200 as an upgrade to the LV-H132 Compact air purifier. So this review will be kind of a comparison between the two.
Design:
The design of the V200 is more matte and even more minimalist than the H132. A lot of the black accents were done away with and the glossy finish of the H132 is no more. So fingerprints, smudges, and noticeable dust sticking to the purifier surface is no more.
My favorite thing about this new V200 is the intake grill is much larger, reaching nearly up to a full 50% of the lower body. This will greatly improve the level of impurities being sucked in compared to the H132’s minuscule bottom grill. Makes sense since the V200 can cover 161 sq ft compared to the 89 sq ft of the H132.
The unit of the V200 is also super light! The H132 was not much heavier but it definitely didn’t feel as light as the V200. This unit will be easy to move around for sure. In terms of further dimensions the two models are roughly the same size and stature.
The cable is also a detachable AC adapter which differs from the H132’s attached standard plug cable.
Internals:
The H132 had a centrifugal squirrel cage fan, which was decent but hindered an even airflow at the top grill, a common complaint was only 2/3 of the airflow grill had clean air exiting. The V200 has a brushless motor and an actual open fan blade system which equates to more even airflow and a nice energy efficiency that also avoids overheating. According to the manual this unit uses less than a full watt of electricity which is good if you want this running for long hours at a time without worrying about breaking the bank.
Filter:
The V200’s filter serves the same three-stage filtration as the H132 did, albeit in a different shape and form. The V200 is a 3 layer hollow cylinder style True HEPA filter whereas the H132 was a 3 layer disc style true HEPA. The preliminary filter for this model is also nylon instead of the H132’s thin carbon preliminary filter. The Nylon is molded into the HEPA and activated carbon filter so it’s not removable for cleaning but can be wiped down to further longevity of the filter. The filter is only 4 dollars more than the H132. Given the conditions of your space the filter can last you 5-7 months or more.
Noise Level:
The V200 is QUIET. I’m talking almost so quiet you wonder if it’s powerful enough for the claimed 161 sq ft coverage? Speed 1 of the V200 is on par with the near silence of the H132’s speed 1. Speed 2 is noticeably quieter than H132’s second speed. However, speed 3 is definitely loud and makes it presence known in your space. The manual advises this for a quick air clean. I was almost shocked at the noise level, I needed to actually check if I removed all plastic from the filter because I couldn’t believe it performed that quiet at medium. I had a short moment of doubt about this unit until I already saw particles and lint inside the intake grill. That’s faster proof of suction & cleaning than I ever got with the H132 (which to this day has a relatively clean filter 5-6 months later).
Features:
Besides the 3 fan speeds lets talk features. The V200 sports most of what the H132 had but with a bit more additions and in better taste. The filter change indicator is back. We also see a return of a night light feature except this time Levoit axed the blue light and replaced it with a warm yellow toned light. I’m grateful they made this change as the H132’s blue hue was too bright on any setting and too harsh for sleeping environments, I always left it off. In addition, the V200 adds a sleep mode which uses the lowest speed for night time, and a display off button to get rid of the ambient control lights for even more optimal sleep comfort for those sensitive to both light and sound at night.
More importantly the V200 adds a timer feature which is super cool for having it set for a set window of time before shutting off automatically. Great for leaving on for your sleep time or while you’re away at work.
Overall this purifier seems legit and has fulfilled every update I wished for the H132 which was okay at best, and always left me unfulfilled. I look forward to updating this review after a few months of consistent use.
