Don't listen to the one star reveiws.
After reading the one star reviews I felt it nessessary to clear some things up and some intelligence to the discussion. First off anyone saying this game is a re-skin is very far off. This game feels completely revamped however still familiar to the series. It's a game in the battlefield series and will have similar gameplay because that's what the fans want. I can promise you though the graphics have been completely overhauled, the sniper class is smoother and the guns feel and operate very different than previous battlefield games because of the WW1 setting. This is certainly not a simple re-skin.
Secondarily, those complaining about it taking a long time for weapons to kill somebody obviously don't know what they are doing. I feel they are complaining primarily because of the MP trench gun which is the default gun on the assault class. This gun is intended to be used by getting very close to somebody and spraying them with it. It is not an accurate weapon nor was it back in WW1. Use corners and cover in order to move close on opponents and you shouldn't have an issue with the guns if you use them to their strengths. Either that or they are trying to take out enemies at a distance using iron sights and are too use to their high tech red dot sights. There are optical gun classes that allow having a more conventional sight picture if that's your style.
Operations is a new mode in this game that has the attackers taking different sections and lends itself well to the WW1 setting. Oftentimes you'll have games where a lot of attackers are charging a position and you have a lot of trench fighting and both up close and distance fighting depending on how well you decide to use cover and concealment. If your not into large scale battles then you also have the option to play team death match or a new game mode called war pigeons. This is a game mode that uses the towns in the maps to offer an up close to medium distance battle over a single war pigeon. Kind of like capture the flag if you had to protect the flag for a certain amount of time instead of returning it to you base.
Overall this game might take a bit of adjusting, getting use to iron sights and getting up close to enemies for successful kills is different than most other modern shooters that simply have you use a weapons iron sights until you unlock a red dot. Overall this game will make you a better FPS player because you'll get use to utilizing cover and concealment and using a weapons natural iron sights. Personal opinion but this game is beautiful and I think it's a strong contender for game of the year.
