I live 50-60 miles from the nearest towers surrounded by oak trees. I was still using an old style fish bone antenna with a pre-amp and a powered signal booster just to get 50% signal strength. Used the old style DB8 and got up to 60% strength. I Decided to go all in and buy the newer DB8e and now I am up to 70%-86% signal strength with NO AMPLIFICATION!!!! Decided to take the old DB8, mount it in my attic pointed it at towers in the opposite direction and combine the signal off both UHF antennas with a Monster 3Ghz splitter used as a combiner. This added 3 more channels. Got greedy and purchased the C5 VHF extreme range that comes with a VHF/UHF combiner and mounted it directly over my DB8e. Now I have 3 antennas signals combined and receiving every channel with 100 miles of me with a minimum of 50% signal strength up to 86% all with no added amplification. WOW!!!!!! The biggest benefit of these antennas is that birds, ice or wind are no issue. No more bent up ugly antenna on my roof. I feed all of this signal to my Tivo DVR combined with a streaming service (Netflix and/or Amazon Prime) so the Dish or Direct TV guy can kiss my rear. Over-the-air broadcasting is REAL HDTV.
