A "healthier" substitute to Splenda. Special NOTE below for the company and future customers!
I have been looking for a "healthier" sugar substitute for a long time. I am and have been a big user of Splenda sweetener. I am also getting into eating more healthy, organic foods, less chemicals..etc. I've been reading that Splenda may cause issues with gut bacteria, causing bloating, and possible other health concerns. To me, it tasted so much like sugar and even tastes great in hot liquids/coffee/tea. I have tried Stevia alone - bitter, Monk-fruit - no sweet enough, same with Erythritol. My brother recently purchased this Whole Foods Sweetener and gave me a few packs to try. I was immediately impressed with the taste! Looks like the combination of all those 3 natural sweeteners into one product does the trick to my sweet tooth. It was not as sweet as Splenda, maybe 75% as sweet, but it also held pretty well in my coffee after nuking it. :) I had to add half Splenda/half Whole Earth Sweetener to really enjoy my coffee. I am hoping eventually I can drop the Splenda and use Whole Earth Sweetener as my sole sugar substitute. NOTE: I received my box of 1,000 individual packets of Whole Earth Sweetener today. I noticed on the nutritional label the powder in each packet is 1.5 grams and if you look at what is displayed on the Amazon page of sweetener, it has 2 grams in each pack. So easy math... I was suppose to get 2,000 grams of sweetener but only got 1,500 grams. 1,000 packets x 1.5 grams = 1,500 grams. So I got 25% less product than I paid for. I immediately contacted Amazon and spoke with a kind representative. I asked if I could please either get a 25% refund or have them send me another 333 packets. She quickly processed a full refund and did not require the product sent back. Kudos to Amazon's customer care. I did ask her to inform the company to please correct the picture displaying 2 grams to reflect the 1.5 grams that they can expect to get when making the purchase of this sweetener. So the company: please update the picture, and to the customers, I hope my review and observant eye helped you out on this one. Overall, it is a good product, just nice to get what I paid for. :)
