$99 vacuum that makes me feel like I'm using a $200-$300 vacuum
After pouring over, literally, hundreds of reviews and consumer reports for several vacuums we finally bit the bullet and purchased the NV105. Shark doesn't do themselves any favors with the confusing name/numbering system for their vacuums, which is a shame because it may deter people from purchasing a great vacuum. -It is lightweight, very. It maneuvers quite easily. It also pulls itself along - be prepared when you first turn it on. -I regret not taking a before and after photo of my carpet. Sounds cheesy, I know. Our carpet is only a few years old. I hadn't realized just how much 'life' it had lost. That little $99 vacuum pulled out more dirt and dust, even erased furniture indentations that we thought were now permanent, and made the carpet look, and feel, brand new; All with just 2 quick passes over the area. Seriously, no OCD vacuuming occurred. -Easy to snap together for 'quick start' use. Manual does have a 'quick start' section. -I read complaints about the dust container being too small. All I can offer on that is: 1) If you want a light vacuum, small is key. It's a trade-off. Vacuums aren't magic. 2) Emptying out the container is incredibly easy and fast, so I have to scratch my head in confusion as to why this is an issue. 3) Also, it isn't teeny tiny. -It does have a smaller head width, but: It doesn't take up hardly any space to store. It has such good suction that even if you vacuum quickly, which is easy because it's so light, you'll still clean the same area better than most vacuums in the same amount of time. -The head of the vacuum has a see-through window so that you can see the beater bar. This is more of a 'plus' than one might automatically consider it to be, especially if you have long hair. Hair WILL get tangled around any beater bar. Vacuums aren't magical. Please don't blame the vacuum for this occurring. Being able to see when it's time to quickly snip the hair free has been more helpful than I thought it would be. -Another frequent complaint I read was how the "vacuum too easily tips over, and when trying to use the tools attached to the hose this is quite annoying." Well, I can't disagree that it tips over easily. It's a VERY light vacuum. For my needs this hasn't been a problem. I can keep one hand on the top of the vacuum or set the vacuum up against something if I'm going to pull on the hose at all. For me, having a vacuum that is light enough for me to use regularly is far more important. It's a trade off. One that I'm happy to make. -The button to change to hard flooring is easy to reach, as is the power button. Forgive me for sounding like an infomercial. The tools on my particular vacuum can be a little difficult to get on and off. Hoping they loosen up a bit with use. To sum it up - It's a $99 vacuum that makes me feel like I'm using a $200-$300 vacuum. It's so light and easy to use that I vacuum more often. We're satisfied customers.
