UPDATE! Seat now ships with a 4-inch spacer block
March 2022 Update:
I was contacted by the company owner about this problem. He and I developed a Spacer Block that will ship with all future units that SOLVES this problem.
Thanks to him and his team for listening and responding!
I'm not sure what the policy will be for previously sold units, but if you need help, try reaching out.
Previous Review:
The ad says this is the most comfortable seat. Well, I have some bad news.
Me:
5' 10" man with an average build.
Riding recumbent bikes outdoors for 20 years.
Former seating engineer for a large automotive supplier. I know some things about comfort.
When I first climbed on the bike, I was impressed with the adjustment mechanisms. How could I not get comfortable? I tried everything, but no matter what, I felt I was sliding forward with no lumbar support, or if I skooched rearward to get some back support, then my backside was hanging off the rear edge of the seat cushion and the backs of my thighs were banging on the front edge of the cushion. I just could not get comfortable! Look closely at the manufacturer's video and you'll see the model is having the same problem.
I found the seat cushion was too far forward in relation to the seatback. After some experiments, I solved the problem by adding a spacer block to the seatback (see photos). I tried several thicknesses and settled on 4 inches.
I'm still deciding if I should return the bike or live with my modifications. Otherwise, I like the bike. If I keep it, I'll update this review with more information.
I rely on user reviews to help me find good products. I'm really disappointed this bike received so many positive reviews and no one mentioned this problem. Please mark this review as helpful, so others can benefit from my experience.
Other small problems:
Control panel was cocked to the left. I re-mounted the support arm while pushing it to the right, and it's better now. Too much slop in the screw holes.
The plastic finish is terrible on the base with swirl marks and many imperfections. Just aesthetics.
The power plug is at the rear. Why? Everyone will place the bike in front of a TV, so the plug should be in the front! I added wire routing accessories to correct this. The wire is also very flimsy. If you run over it, the wires will break. Many other reviews mention power supply failures. I suspect this is from broken wires.
