I have been getting these stairs for years. We have three cats - 2 larger ones (over 18lbs each) and 1 small-ish cat (about 9lbs) and will go through these stairs in about a years time. We have these at the foot of our bed, originally purchasing to help our senior Manx in accessing the bed when he got diabetic neuropathy in his hind legs (this causes loss of use). He's since recovered mostly from this, but still needs the extra help. They love to tear up the posts like scratching posts and will hide and attack one another - or our feet - when passing by. We have broken the corners of the stairs by putting our feet on them, but they are just made of particleboard and carpet. The posts are thick cardboard and carpet with long screws that give great stability to the set up. They take a full year of three fat cats jumping and tearing them up before they are so shredded we have to replace them. For the price, I don't mind paying and the quality is great. My cats enjoy it and I enjoy them being able to get in bed when they would like.
