Nothing else even close to this price for this type of bike, and very smooth ride
On the recommendation of my doctor because of a medical condition affecting my muscles, I started using a recumbent bike at our YMCA, but I had to use a Nu-Step that had the arms attached to the pedals for when my legs muscles are not strong enough to pedal (even at the lowest resistance). The arms that move with the pedals allow my leg muscles to still be getting the motion even when my arms are doing more of the pushing. Well, my doctor wants me to use it daily, but since I can't drive, I was only getting to the Y twice a week. I looked for a similar bike since Nu-Steps are $5000 and up, but the least expensive bike I could find that had the arms and legs that move together was $1200... until I found this bike from Sunny Health for only $300 including shipping. Based on the pros and cons below, I would give it a four out of five stars overall for performance (the con that knocks it down just a little from a full five star is the lack of adjustable arms), but the bike is still so good for only 0.6% of the cost of a Nu-Step bike that I have to give it a five-star rating for being a lot more pros and so affordable in comparison to anything else on the market. PROS: Very smooth ride (pleasantly surprised how smooth) Affordable, especially for the features offered Sturdy Keypad with reasonable amount of info Pulse sensor built into handles Can use pedals or arms by themselves if preferred Seat is fully adjustable for people with a wide range of height Does have different resistance options to give a bit of a tougher ride for more experienced bikers CONS: Arms are a slight bit high and aren't adjustable... they still work pretty well because of the seat adjustability, but I wish the arms were adjustable, too, to give the best performance When my track-star son uses it and pedals fast, he cannot use the arms because the height of the arms makes it too clumsy/awkward to do at a fast pace. Quite a bit of assembly required, but my husband is really good at following instructions and had no problems Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons if you are looking for a good cross-over bike that allows the elliptical and recumbent bike options together in one. After weeks of looking and researching, I couldn't find anything else on the market close to this price that gave the cross-over option like this. FYI, the seat has some give to it but is definitely on the firm side. So for those biking for long periods, it could possibly get a little uncomfortable and might need some extra cushioning added, but my family members actually think it is still comfortable for our purposes.
