I bought this extension pole for use in building an antenna for portable amateur radio use. I added a four guy cords about 1/2 way up and suspended the wire antenna. While it does flex up at the top with the weight of the antenna wire, it hasn’t bent and continues to collapse and open as expected. The locking clamps between sections hold nicely. Comparing the price of this portable mast to the ones that say “for amateur radio use” makes me think this is a real bargain. It is only 25’ rather than the 30’ extended that Hams prefer, but for a pole that collapses to 5’ - getting the extra 5’ would require another section of smaller diameter tubing and that would diminish the strength unacceptably given the degree of flex this has at the top. I may add another set of guy lines higher up to assist with that issue.
