Decide beforehand what you want to do with the camera.
I just received my Rove R2-4k dash camera. I was immediately taken in by the packaging and overall appearance and craftsmanship. I had ordered the Aucee hardwire kit and Samsung's Evo 128 GB. SD card.
My primary thought was to capture details I'm involved in an accident or my vehicle is vandalized. My time in law enforcement and later a claims investigator has taught me to be proactive, and what better way to accomplish this.
Pros: well made, good example of craftsmanship. Pictures are clear and crisp. Of course the lense should be cleaned and not obstructed. I found anoying spots had blurred some images and upon closer examination found particles of bug left behind.
For what I was searching for and doing extensive reading, I am very pleased with my choice.
Cons: Only issue I experienced had nothing to do with the camera, but the lack of instructions for hardwiring unit. By lack of instructions, I mean none, zero, zip...nada (you get the point). However I figured it out and once I decided how best to run the cable, all went well.
Some things to consider:
Do you want one for coverage of both front and back viewing same time? Do you want Unit to run strictly off internal litheum battery, a capacitor (very reliable, withstands more heat than some units). Additionally, the high degree of heat 176 degrees that this unit can handle was a selling point for me.
