3 details reviews usually leave out.. Samsung A51
I purchased this phone for my girlfriend after seeing a few video and text reviews. Still a new phone so not much out there. Seeing as the a50 was a big hit, figured the a51 would be solid. One note, I picked up from breed, stated 6gb ram, it’s only 4. Box had no stickers, but everything looked untouched so not sure there were ever stickers. Charged up the phone and tested it out. Here is what you need to know that I could not get from a single review but bits here and there. 1. In the box is a small white box with sim eject tool on the outside. Inside is a nice clear case. Nice to have protection especially when gifted that way the owner can shop for something and be protected. 2. Next, yes there is a screen protector installed and it does not appear to be a cheap film that is meant to be torn away, photos are attached. 3. Last detail that reviews never mention is night mode or night shot, is the one? Yes, with camera open, choose more and there is a night shot. You need to be very still as the camera takes multiple long exposures. The darker it is, the longer the wait. It looks good, but it is no pixel 4. Do all A51 phones come with a case and protection installed? I don’t know. I purchased both because not one seller or review mentioned it. I played around with the phone briefly, here’s my take. Wide and macro are outdoor sunny day cameras only, indoors light needs to be strong or images will be noisy and noise reduction becomes evident. The main is only slightly better. Too many pixels on the main camera means lots of noise and aggressive noise reduction. When light isn’t strong, always go with the night shot when possible. Focus is quick with main camera, didn’t get much time to learn much else. Oh yeah there is a pro mode for manual settings. Selfie camera has too many pixels so low light isn’t the best. Works in northern california with ATT LTE lights up. Here in this small town of 5k people speed test inside the house on ATT was 102 mbits. No problem there. Call quality is good according to my gf. Speaker is a single unit and it’s just average quality. Screen is large and it looks great. The hole punch camera is very tiny, even smaller than note ten. Fit and finish is nice and the color and rainbows on the back look great and it is hard to photograph. There has been some mention of phone having nfc but it being disabled. I. Don’t use it, didn’t test, look around if this is a deal breaker for you. For the money it makes no sense to cry about what the phone doesn’t have. My gf loves the big long lasting battery, big screen with hardly and bezels, good overall performance and three cameras. Five stars for this 300-ish US dollar phone.
