A Nice, Medium-weight, Plaid Flannel Sheet Set
I've purchased and used Pinzon's heavyweight flannel sheets for over a decade and love them so I thought I'd try these to see how they compare. Not yet knowing the cost of this set, I can't speak to the value, comparatively.
These arrived in a typical heavy plastic case inside a nice box, inside a shipping box. It would be easy to wrap the first box for gifting. The yarn dyed flannel sheets are a pretty plaid, a bit masculine possibly for some, and have a soft touch right out of the bag. I washed them per instructions and they came out almost wrinkle free. My dryer lint screen was loaded but has been worse with new towels, so I wasn't surprised.
My mattress is about 11 inches high and the fitted sheet went on with a lot of room to spare. I like that there is elastic all around it to fit tightly and stay put. The flat sheet has a lot of length but the sides just cover both sides of our queen mattress. If it was taller, I don't think that the sides would be covered completely down to the box spring. If there is any shrinkage over time, I see a potential problem, but for now, it is acceptable.
I slept on these last night and they are very soft and snugly. Compared to the heavyweight set, I can tell that they are a little lighter and less substantial, the weave being a little less tight. Some may prefer them over the heavier ones. Time will tell if they wear as well or pill, but for now, I like them!
I will update this review as time passes. First impression, without knowing the cost, is four stars.
12-1-16 - Just a quick update after washing them a few times and enjoying them a bit longer. I've had no shrinkage or pilling and they are cozy warm still. I think I like them better now and bump them up a star. The cost seems reasonable for the quality and I like the color variety offerings too.
A couple more weeks and washings and I'm noticing some fading of the colors. No shrinkage noted or pilling.
