I Still Can't Believe It Actually Works
Pros:
* Relatively quiet (though the water produces a bubbling/trickling effect while it's misting)
* Simple to use
* Dispenses the aroma well
* Stays cool to the touch
* Automatically turns itself off when water runs out (about 12 hrs, give or take)
Neutral:
* Very lightweight (almost feels flimsy). This could be beneficial if it will be moved often.
* Not a very good humidifier, not even moderately. I only mention this because it was one of the featured selling points.
Cons:
* The instruction manual needs a better editor/proofreader (at least there are pictures)
* You must press the power button 3 additional times to turn it off. (Second press locks the light colour; third press turns the light off; fourth press turns the machine off.)
* The power button has a bright blue light when turned on. The power light is actually jarring in comparison with the rotating colours which are all muted/pastel.
* Also, when the machine is set to have no light, in a dimmed room, the power light will actually make it appear as though a pale blue light *is* on--this could be a problem for sleepers who prefer total darkness.
* The water reservoir cannot be removed (i.e. for cleaning), so if you want to do a proper wash down, you'll need to do it carefully since submerging the entire machine isn't a good idea.
I'll be upfront and say that when I first removed this from its packaging I did not expect it to work--at all. I expected it to be a pretty gimmick, but I whipped out my essential oils, filled the reservoir with water, plugged it in and turned it on. Immediately a mist came out of the top. *Immediately*. That made me gasp, but the true test was how well it dispersed the aroma throughout the room...and by golly did it disperse.
Some essential oils are fugitive, lasting only a few minutes, and others will last for hours--but that's not the fault of the machine. Overall, this thing is amazing. Yes, it has its flaws, but when you get down to it, the thing works.
On a parting note, I'll share my favourite evening recipe which helps me ease into a restful sleep: 3 parts lavender, 1 part peppermint, and 1 part eucalyptus.
