Works Great for iPhone 5 about 2 1/2 charges. YMMV
I bought my Mophie Powerstation (4000mAh capacity) direct from Mophie in early October 2012. Just for grins I decided to give it a workout to see how it performs before I needed it for a trip. Here's what I did...
I let my iPhone 5 battery deplete to 20% remaining as I normally don't let it get near completely dead. I attached a recently charged Mophie Powerstation that was 'topped off' the day before testing began. Using my wrist watch I observed and logged percentage charge and elapsed time. I left the iPhone 5 powered ON during charging but with the screen blanked most of the time, peeking every few minutes to observe it's progress. I did this test three times without recharging the Mophie Powerstation.
From a 20% charge remaining as displayed on the iPhone 5 screen.
Attempt #1 from 20% :
to 30% charge = 10 minutes elapsed time
to 40% charge = 20 minutes elapsed time
to 50% charge = 30 minutes elapsed time
to 60% charge = 40 minutes elapsed time
to 70% charge = 50 minutes elapsed time
to 80% charge = 60 minutes elapsed time
to 90% charge = 70 minutes elapsed time
to 95% charge = 80 minutes elapsed time
I didn't try to charge the iPhone beyond 95% as it was taking progressively longer to top it off. As you can see, the rate of charge is pretty linear up to ~90% and it charges at a rate of about 1% per minute.
I achieved the same exact result on Attempt #2, again starting with the iPhone 5 with just 20% charge remaining, and the Mophie Powerstation NOT being recharged after Attempt #1. I then tried charging the iPhone 5 for the third time without recharging the Mophie.
From a 20% charge remaining as displayed on the iPhone 5 screen.
Attempt #3 from 20% :
to 30% charge = 10 minutes elapsed time
to 40% charge = 20 minutes elapsed time
to 50% charge = 30 minutes elapsed time
to 58% charge = 45 minutes elapsed time
to 58% charge = >60 minutes elapsed time
The Mophie started running out of steam about midway through the third attempt but still had enough juice to get me over 50% charged.
Your mileage may vary depending on how you deplete and recharge your iPhone but for me, having over two full charges is more than sufficient in this relatively compact battery.
