I bought this for my husband for Christmas. It is now January 8th and we are still playing. We play this game every evening from 5pm-11pm and just when I think the game is over, I turn around and he's setting it up for another round. This game is terribly addictive, so beware. This is a fantastic gift for someone who doesn't live with you. What have I gotten myself into? Serious details: This game has a few new rules from previous versions and tons of pieces. Start-up for newbies is about 1-2 hours of studying the rules, but even then, strategy takes quite a bit of time to learn. This is why I haven't won a single game yet. And sure, the game is pricey, but the board is really big, there are a buttload of detailed tiny little pieces, and for 1000s of hours of gameplay it really is a bargain. More info for newbies: If you have never played this game...Have you ever played Risk and wished the battles were more complex and the game took 12+ hours? If so, this is the game for you.
