I bought this product even after reading multiple reviews saying it quit working after a month because it was the best priced and the size I wanted. After about a month, it did 'stop working' and the light would constantly say it needed to be refilled- then I figured, if it's already broken what do I have to lose? And proceeded to take it apart to see if something was obviously wrong-lo and behold- mineral build up!! It hadn't occurred to me that after only a month of use there could be mineral build up so thick that it actually looked like mud surrounding the heating element but there it was! It grossed me out so I took to google to see how to fix it, a quick search of this model number turned up a YouTube video with step by step Instructions on how to descale and disinfect your humidifier-which I should have been doing WEEKLY (oops). The good news is that it was a super easy process and it saved me from throwing this in the trash! Before you assume it's broken you should definitely try this! My only complaint about this humidifier otherwise is that you must tip the water container upside down to put it on the base, it can be a little annoying to fill and then flip over from the sink to carry it. If I were Honeywell I would look at making the next model one with the full cap on top. I attached a photo of some of the yucky mineral deposits that were clogging up my humidifier-again, only a month of use!
