Outstanding round of Applause from this Wyoming Girl!
Absolutely great!! I have owned this vacuum for 3 weeks and it has more than made itself invaluable in my home!
Our needs: Brevity, high-powered, powered brush head, light-weight, hard-floors adaptable, agile, professional grade.
Before the Shark... I was a die-hard Dyson customer and owned a Purple Dyson Animal (DC-65, I think), for 11 years. I put it through an entire house remodel (took out all of the plaster walls, removed 5 interior walls, completely refitted the kitchen... You get the picture!) and it trucked through the entire project. I bought a new Dyson, in March of 2015. This vacuum went 3 months and the connection to the vacuum head wore out (out of the box it smelled of hot, melting rubber). Dyson sent me a new one (275 dollar part, mind you). No more burnt rubber smell!! 6 months later, the intake hose (not consumer replaceable without voiding the warranty) dry-rotted and crumbled away. Dyson wanted me to send the whole vacuum in. I live in the middle of nowhere... NO Dyson store, no UPS store, NO LUCK... I was stuck. Dyson refused to send me a box to send it to them. DARN!!! Not to mention that the turn around time for my vac would be 6 weeks to 5 months??? DARN number 2!!!! Decided that I needed to make a switch.
Welcome HOME, SHARK!!!
I LOVE MY SHARK!! I am an asthmatic with pretty impacting allergies. I have 2 doggies, 2 kitties, and 2 horses.... Oh yeah, and a hubby who works in a refinery. I need something professional grade that will do the job my old Dyson did!
The things I LOVE:
The powered brush head (does not rely on suction!!); the smaller vacuum head, the low profile (under furniture in a heart beat!!), powerful, sealed suction system, it's flexibility (the hose comes apart with so much more ease), the over-all design, light weight, converts to a canister vac in 1.2 seconds flat, long wand, the canister itself is large capacity, but unlike the Dyson I empty the canister in one felled swoop. There is no digging out the pet hair wedged in the cyclone, or tapping the canister to get out all of the dust... You literally just pop it open and the dirt slides away. Hardwood Floor setting with just a flick of the thumb (and it does not blow doggie hair and dust all over the house while trying to suck it up!), GEEZZZ.... I could go on and on!!
The things I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with:
~the hose!! It is a little stiff, however when I am doing most of my house work, the stiffness makes it easier to work around
~the Light on the vacuum head itself... I love that I can see the floor, the work being done, and how clean it becomes. I can easily see pet hair I might have missed, and allows me not to have to turn on 100 lights in the house... I hate that I can see how dirty my carpet and floor get!! GEEZZZ!!!
The things I am less than thrilled with:
-Not wall to wall suction. This really does not bother me because there is technically NOT truly wall to wall suction on any vacuum. My old OLD Dyson did get closer to the baseboards than this vacuum does, but I have to run around the baseboards anyway, so it really does not matter to me too much.
-The attachments are not stored on the vacuum. This is a moderately big one for me. When I need the attachments, I have to remember where the heck I put them! Not always the easiest thing for me and I have little storage in this small house. Not a deal-breaker and by storing the attachments on the vacuum itself might muddle up the stream-lined feel to the vacuum. Definitely something to think about.
Long, involved story... I know... Bottom line:
I truly wish that Dyson would have maintained it's quality. This vacuum has yet to bind up, clog, or have issues that my new Dyson was having multiple times each time I vacuumed. When you vacuum 3 times a week (small house, lots of pets, and allergens), you sure don't need to unclog a vacuum 3...4....5 times each cleaning.
I am going to post a video later as there are some key things that would have really helped me make this decision, but it is going to take some time to develop!!
You will love LOVE this vacuum, especially if you are a country family with country needs!! WE LOVE OURS!!
