Really cannot manage having a patient at home without these sheets/protector
Love this product since I first bought the original Peel-away product for use on a XL Twin with a deep mattress. Since then its been needed for a hospital bed and each version seems to say that it is good for them, however they all come in many different sizes of "twin" as well as depth and often are somewhat of an odder measurement than a standard twin as they are made for a specific type of bed technology, are air compression mattresses or similar. Due to this if a fitted bottom is used for a 'hospital bed' they are rarely anything but jersey knit to facilitate fitting a mattress without being so loose as to slide off or to tight and popping off. With Peel-away sheets you really need a good fit or as close as possible of the "peel-away" part becomes problematic. If its too big for the mattress the peeling of a layer from the fitted part in difficult and most times the corners pop off, and just in use the sheet, all layers, will shift off one side or the other. Of course the different sizes, such as "Camp" and "Cot", should help with that but other than trial or error which one? I have totally been unable t locate on the packaging or in descriptions the dimensions for the sheets and there are really not a great many standards between RV and Camper mattresses or bed padding, and none with those that make camping cot mattresses, and pads as they can be made to fit a specific make of cot or generic with often a difference of up to a couple of inches in length and/or width and depending on your choice the thickness can vary. So I have been hard put to determine what version of this product would work as there is not one that I can tell sold specifically for hospital beds in the realm of their estimated dimensions. So when the standard twin XL and standard twin Peel-away were both to large after trying I have moved on to this version to try on a hospital bed although from reviews its possible that the right size might actually end up being the cot version but even reviews are hard to go with as some apparently found them fine for a narrower bed while others found them only good to fit a toddler bed. These are really the most practical solution for 100 different things we deal with with bed sheets, from a quick change at 3 am, to going through a lot of sheet changing but having limited laundry facilities, being able to know one is actually sleeping on a clean sheet when traveling and so many other things and a sheet that also protects is a real boon. It just really would help all users I would think, to have a much better idea of the dimension before buying, so they do not have to buy several versions to find the right one. UPDATE: I did finally find the sheet measurements on the back of the package, which works fine for in store purchasing but online without a image of the back of the package it really does not. I still think that it is information that it would be helpful to apply in their write up. As it turned out the Camp size is excellent for not just cots and camper beds, but if your have twin sized beds with mattresses under 9 inches deep, such as hospital beds. It gives a tighter fit so the sheets lay smoother without wrinkles to leave marks on patients, make s it easier to peel the top layer away and its less likely that due to deep sides the sheets will move about a lot. One of the most difficult things with caring for a patient at home, and a bed wedding child, is that these accidents are usually ones that happen in the middle of the night when no one is really in the mood to collect bedding to remake a bed and go through stripping a bed and remaking it. Of course we use both disposable and cloth bed pads, but those are not always 100% and it just so much easier to peel away the top layer of sheet along with any bedpads and bundle them up for disposal/laundry and the patient is already on a clean bedsheet without a lot of work getting a clean sheet back on the bed. All that is needed is to position dry bedpads and settle them back down an then you can go back to bed too. I can't imagine how much that would mean to both a parent and a child when bedwetting happens. This really is a quality product and we have never had an issue where one accident goes any further than the top layer. Before we started using these it was daily that a couple of bottom sheets as well as mattress protectors and mattress pads had to be laundered often meaning at least 2 wash loads a day. Since we started using Peel-Away products we are only washing the mattress protector and the pad once a week when thy are regularly changed. Granted with someone that is incontinent you may go through a pack more frequently then just changing on a weekly basis but given the amount of time and trouble of changing a bed at 3AM added to the additional workload of several loads of laundry a day these are a time saver, as well as a water and electricity saver and I spend less on detergents.
